Frequently Asked Questions

What is Zman Kabala?

Zman Kabala (Time of Kabbalah) is a center dedicated to making authentic Kabbalistic wisdom accessible to modern seekers. We offer structured courses, meditation programs, and community learning experiences that honor the depth and integrity of the tradition while making it understandable for contemporary minds. Our approach bridges the gap between academic study and experiential practice.

What makes your approach different from pop Kabbalah?

We teach Kabbalah from primary sources — Zohar, Etz Chaim, Tanya, Sefer Yetzirah — rather than New Age interpretations. Our teachers have studied under recognized masters in the traditional chain of transmission. We emphasize that Kabbalah is not a self-help technique but a sophisticated spiritual system that requires dedicated study, ethical development, and genuine practice. At the same time, we make these profound teachings accessible without dumbing them down.

Do I need any prerequisites to study Kabbalah here?

We offer programs at every level. Our beginner track requires no prior knowledge — we start with foundations of Jewish thought and gradually introduce Kabbalistic concepts. For intermediate and advanced students, we offer textual study programs that work directly with source material in Hebrew and Aramaic (with full translation support). We believe the traditional teaching that Kabbalah should be studied by mature, grounded individuals, so we emphasize character development alongside intellectual study.

Can I study online?

Yes! Most of our programs are available online via Zoom with recordings provided. Our online platform includes video lectures, discussion forums, reading materials, and live Q&A sessions. We also offer a self-paced course library for those who prefer to learn on their own schedule. The online experience is designed to be as engaging and interactive as in-person learning.

What topics do your courses cover?

Our curriculum spans the full range of Kabbalistic study: the ten Sefirot and the Tree of Life, the four worlds (Atzilut, Beriah, Yetzirah, Asiyah), Lurianic Kabbalah (Tzimtzum, Shevirat HaKelim, Tikkun), the soul and its five levels, meditation and prayer practices, Zohar study, the Hebrew letters and their mystical significance, and the Kabbalistic calendar. We also offer specialized workshops on topics like Kabbalah and psychology, Kabbalah and science, and Kabbalistic dream interpretation.
